Trains switch to bus service for downtown stations through July 3
Metro Transit buses are replacing Blue and Green Line trains through Monday, July 3, for the Target Field, Warehouse District/Hennepin Avenue, Nicollet Mall and Government Plaza light-rail train stations in downtown Minneapolis. Trains will resume service at 5 a.m. Monday, July 3.
Metro Transit said the shutdown, which began June 22, is necessary to allow for track repairs. After more than a decade of service and 1.3 million total METRO trips, several sections of curved track in downtown Minneapolis have become worn and need to be replaced. Crews will also improve two crossover sections and make signal and system improvements to improve the reliability of downtown rail service.
