Trauma training for City employees

ReCAST Minneapolis is hosting trauma training for City staff to learn about trauma experiences in communities as well as an opportunity to identify their own traumas. Throughout this series of trainings, employees will gain valuable skills and tools needed to understand different types of trauma. Some elements of training will focus on immigrant and refugee communities.

Training sessions will address the following topics: understanding trauma, the role of City workers, and secondary and vicarious trauma. For additional details and descriptions of the sessions, visit the Equity and Inclusion SharePoint Site under Engage > Trainings. (Enter your City email address to gain access to the site, and if you’re already signed into the network you’ll automatically be signed in to SharePoint.) These trainings will be held in the fall of 2017. Watch Minneapolis Matters and CityTalk for more details and dates.

This training will be facilitated by Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio (CLUES), an organization with 35 years of experience providing trauma-informed, clinical mental health services for Latinos and other immigrants. The ReCAST Minneapolis program helps promote resiliency and equity among communities that have faced trauma due to civil unrest connected to law enforcement issues.
