New classes open to all City employees

Human Resources is holding a series of classes open to all City employees. These classes cover communication skills, managing meetings, email etiquette and generations in the workplace. All classes take place at City of Lakes, 309 Second Ave. S., Room 101.

Classes include: 

Communications skills
Learn and apply skills that are critical to good communication including how to identify factors that help communication and those that create barriers.  
9-10 a.m. Aug. 1

Managing meetings
Learn how to plan a meeting, create an agenda, balance participation within a group and keep a meeting on track.
1-4 p.m. Aug. 23

Email etiquette
Review the do’s and don’ts of email. Topics discussed include the use of subject lines, formatting, content, grammar, punctuation, and the carbon copy and blind carbon copy fields.
9-10 a.m. Sept. 12 

Generations at work
Today there are four generations in the workplace, each one bringing its own values, rules and styles. This workshop helps you understand how each generation approaches work differently, examines the values and strengths of each generation, and offers tips for creating a harmonious workplace.
9-10 a.m. Oct. 3

Use COMET to register:

  1. Log in to COMET-HR.
  2. Click “Learning and Development.”
  3. In the search, enter keywords from the name of the class you are interested in (e.g. “generations”).
  4. Click “Enroll.”
