Decorative manhole covers return to Nicollet Mall
Nearly 50 of the newly refurbished decorative manhole covers featuring Minnesota icons including loons, walleye, wild rice, the lady-slipper and more have been re-installed along Nicollet Mall.
This continues the final phase of construction that includes the planting of hundreds of trees, the opening of intersections, and the addition of outdoor furniture, public art and new lighting.
There’s so much art along Nicollet, people will literally be stepping on it. From the decorative manhole covers to the new art from world-class artists, Nicollet Mall is home to the City of Minneapolis’ single largest collection of public art.
The reconstruction of the new Nicollet is on track for substantial completion by the end of November 2017.
