Enjoy singing? Join the City-County Chorus
Looking to accentuate the positive with a lunch break activity that’s fun, right downtown in the Hennepin County Government Center and over your lunch hour? Love to sing or just want to exercise the vocal chords? The City-County Chorus welcomes all singers (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass) to join us for the 2017 season.
Hour-long rehearsals begin at noon every Tuesday, beginning Sept. 5 in the Hennepin County Government Center’s A-level auditorium (Room A0304). Any City, County or State employee who enjoys singing may join the chorus. There are no auditions or prerequisites to participate.
The chorus’ repertoire includes holiday, seasonal and patriotic songs with piano accompaniment. The group performs several concerts between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve in various downtown locations including the Hennepin County Government Center and Minneapolis City Hall. These performances usually take place at noon.
Participation is a Hennepin County Board and City of Minneapolis approved activity, which means employees are allowed to use limited work hours to participate in rehearsals and performances. Employees in the chorus may take a full hour for lunch to participate in rehearsals and performances instead of 30 minutes.
