Employee and supervisor classes help build on and improve skills

Human Resources offers Employee U and Supervisor U learning and development courses for City employees, supervisors and managers to help you succeed in your City job. The courses aim to align City workforce practices with the City’s value of creating fair and just opportunities and outcomes for all. City leaders and supervisors provided input on the topics and helped shape course content.

Employee U classes (appropriate for all City employees)

Supervisor U classes (appropriate for supervisors and managers)

  • Managing in a union environment: Understand your role as a supervisor and your rights and responsibilities under a contract. Review guidelines for interpreting contract language and apply key contract articles to real life situations.

    Time commitment: One day.
    Date: Oct. 31.
  • Talking about performance issues: Learn to hold successful performance problem-solving conversations and use the options available to remedy the situation without resorting to discipline.

    Time commitment: One half-day class.
    Date: Oct. 19.
