Upcoming equity and inclusion training
The City Coordinator’s Equity and Inclusion team is hosting a variety of upcoming trainings:
- Foundations of Equity
The fifth and final course in the certificate program is How does Unconscious Bias Affect my Workplace, Engagement and Performance? It will be offered 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, in the Martin Luther King Jr. Conference Room (Room 241) in City Hall.
- Trauma training
The second session of Paradoxical Power of Healing Relationships: Interacting with Individuals with Stress and Trauma starts this week. The training is for City staff to learn about trauma experienced in communities and to recognize and address potential sources of trauma.
- Psychological first aid training
Cultural Somatic and Psychological First Aid is an evidence-based, trauma-informed approach that is built on the idea of human resilience. The purpose of this training is to provide first point of contact staff and leaders with the necessary information, skills and support to begin to develop a lasting community equity plan. The all-day course will be offered Monday, Oct. 23, and Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the University of Minnesota Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center.
