Windows 10 refresh schedule now available

IT is working on upgrading City computers from the Windows 7 operating system to Windows 10 this year. The tentative refresh schedule for employees getting new computers to replace their old ones this year is now available on CityTalk. Note the dates may change based on department needs and software compatibility with Windows 10.

Some departments are scheduled toward the end of the year because they have applications that are not ready to run on Windows 10. Otherwise, the refresh schedule roughly follows the Office 2016 rollout. The Windows 10 roll out to non-refreshed computers will begin later in 2019. You can visit the Windows 10 learning resources page to prepare for the changes and learn about new features.

Regardless of the age of your computer, if it seems slow to respond or you are experiencing technical issues, please contact the IT Service Desk as there are several steps that can be taken to improve performance. Agents are available to assist you 5:45 a.m.-midnight Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. on weekends.
