¡Somos! emotional intelligence workshop for future and current leaders
The City of Minneapolis Latinx employee resource group (¡Somos!) is offering a leadership workshop from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 24 with instructor Luis Moreno in City Hall, Room 319. This workshop is a must for future and current managers and supervisors.
“Communicating with Empathy while Driving Results” is an interactive workshop on applying emotional intelligence in everyday situations in the workplace to improve communication, trust and relationship building while driving organizational results.
About the instructor
Luis Moreno has over 16 years of experience in marketing, strategy, and cross-functional team leadership in multiple global companies. He has a master’s in marketing and strategy from the Carlson School and a public policy fellowship from the Humphrey School at the University of Minnesota. He writes and speaks about organizational leadership and is involved in shared prosperity and U.S. competitiveness efforts as a member of the Young American Leaders Program at Harvard Business School. Moreno is a cofounder of The Twin Cities Business Peer Network and a marketing consultant at NewPublica.
Other Latino Heritage Month employee activities
¡Somos! is also planning a series of other activities including ¡Pura Salsa! salsa lessons and salsa making competition, Hora Latina at the Welcoming Week celebration in Powderhorn Park, an educational walking tour in City Hall on the first and third floors, and sugar skull decorating.
¡Somos! is working on ways to foster recruitment, retention and advancement of Latinx employees and promote awareness, recognition and acceptance of Latino cultures through education and celebration.
