Section 8 housing voucher waiting list takes applications June 12 and 13

For the first time in five years, individuals and families interested in Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance will have the opportunity to apply. On Thursday and Friday, June 12 and 13, 2008 only, the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) will open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List and accept requests for applications.

Applications can be made online (encouraged) and on paper. Electronic applications will be available from 12:00 a.m., June 12 through 11:59 p.m. on June 13. Paper applications can be picked up during regular business hours only on June 12 and 13 only at specific branches of the Minneapolis Public Library and at two Minnesota Work Force Center locations. Paper applications will be available from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 12 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 13 at the library branches, and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Work Force centers (both days). Computers and staff assistance will also be available at these locations for those who wish to apply online.

Online applicants will receive immediate confirmation upon successful submission of the completed form. Paper applications should be postmarked no later than June 16, 2008 and mailed to: MPHA Section 8 HCV Waiting List, PO Box 581126, Minneapolis, MN 55458-1126.
