Minneapolis City Council honors "Purple People Eater" Carl Eller's induction to the NFL hall of fame

Eller will attend to hear the resolution recognizing his accomplishments as a football player and North Minneapolis resident

WHAT: The Minneapolis City Council will pass a resolution honoring former Minnesota Vikings defensive player and soon-to-be-National Football League hall-of-famer Carl Eller. Eller will attend the meeting.

WHEN: 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 14

WHERE: Minneapolis City Council Chambers, 350 S. 5th St

MORE: Eller was a member of the Minnesota Vikings' explosive "Purple People Eater" defensive line. During his 15 years with the Vikings, the team won 10 division titles and went to four Super Bowls.

Eller has lived in North Minneapolis since his retirement from professional football. He is a certified chemical dependency counselor and a national leader in chemical dependency prevention and treatment. Eller founded Triumph Services, a chain of chemical dependency rehabilitation facilities in the Twin Cities Metro Area. In addition, he helped the NFL start the Chemical Dependency Education and Awareness Coaches Training Program and is active in the United States Athlete's Association, a national network of students organized to promote positive chemical-free lifestyles.

Eller will attend the City Council meeting.
