Minneapolis Parking Meter Testing

Minneapolis is preparing to replace its parking meters in the next few years, and testing several options now will help the City choose its next generation of meters.

Many of the meters being tested offer new options for drivers. Unlike Minneapolis’ current meters, some of the new ones accept credit cards, a feature that many drivers have been asking for. Four of the meters being tested are multi-space meters, a technology that is fairly new but that is gaining in popularity around the country.

The new meters will be tested for about six months while the City studies how they work and how well drivers like them. People who park at the new meters will be able to share their feedback about them by calling 311 or filling out a short survey online. The results of the testing period will help City engineers decide what kind of meters Minneapolis will use in the future.
