Pawn Shop Items Check

Items pawned in Minneapolis pawn shops and in some suburban and outlying cities are automatically matched against property reported as stolen, lost or recovered with the MPD. This is done through the MPD's Automated Pawn System ( APS).

Citizens may inquire in person or by phone as to whether any items they have had stolen or lost have been pawned by the contacting their local police precinct and asking to speak with someone in Property Crimes.

Victims may also update their police report with additional items or information, such as serial numbers, model numbers, or descriptions, by contacting the local precinct

MPD personnel can answer general questions about pawn shops and how the police work with them.
