Lost, Stolen and Found Property Check

Return to previous page

When items are found, we ask that the finder take the item to the nearest Minneapolis Police Precinct and turn it in to the desk officer. That officer will generate a case number (which you should record) and make a short report of a found items. The items will make their way to the Property and Evidence Unit where they will be documented and stored. The description given will be entered into our computer system for a search of lost items. If there is a match, we will return the item to the rightful owner. If there is not a match we will check again in 2 weeks, one month, and three months. After 6 months, the item will make its way to our public auctions.
