MPD HIGHLIGHTS for the week of 6-12 January, 2009
CITYWIDE TRENDS The MPLS total violent crime rate is 24% lower in this year-to-date period than in 2008.
MPLS has had no homicides this year to date. Robberies decreased by 45% this year-to-date. Aggravated assaults rose by 14% in this year-to-date period compared with 2008. Rape has decreased by 63% this year over the same time period last year. Total property crimes decreased 18% in this year period. A total of 25 weapons have been placed into evidence thus far in 2009. |

Charged: Criminal charges have been filed against Adrian Lamont Patterson (10/26/75) for 23 Nov, 2003 downtown drive-by shooting death of Rashante Dejuan Artison; Patterson has been charged with, 2nd Deg MURDER (intentional) (felony); according to complaint, groups had gotten into dispute outside downtown night club over narcotics, previous homicide; both groups left club, got into own vehicles, drove away; Patterson’s vehicle, driven by Leroy Roderick Paul followed Artison’s; Patterson fired numerous rounds into Artison’s, shot Artison; knowing that he was injured, Artisim drove himself to HCMC where he died; Homicide detectives Larson and Thomsen reviewed this case, used additional info gathered from witnesses to put together enough info to bring these charges forward; Patterson currently in custody, bail set at $1m | ||||

Property crime is on the rise (less than 1%); there have been 8 auto thefts compared to 4 at this time in 2008. 2nd Precinct: Total violent crimes have decreased 48% over this time frame last year; overall property crime is down 28%. 3rd Precinct: Violent crime fell 6% compared with this time period last year. Property crime has reduced 40% over this time in 2008. 4th Precinct: The decrease in violent crime is 10% this year.
