MPD's Email Crime Alert System:
Why Subscribe?
Dear partners in crime prevention in Minneapolis,
We have enhanced our crime alert email system, and need you to subscribe. To get crime alerts and to make our service more effective, sign up for crime alerts.
Please fill in the online form as completely and specifically as possible.
Here's why we need you to subscribe:
- Having your location on file will help us send you information more specific to your needs, and to work with you as our Neighborhood Policing Plans are formulated, executed, and reviewed.
- We aim to improve this communication, by both narrowing our focus to the neighborhood level when it comes to crime alerts and advisories, while continuing to send notes sector- and precinct-wide as needed. Our system allows us to be more flexible in what we send and target information more specifically to your needs. You will be able to ask for just those notices concerning your neighborhood, or for as many neighborhoods as you are involved with in partnership with us to reduce crime.
- We have also expanded this service to include several alert categories, to send appropriate crime reports to you based on your line of work, service in the community, or security capacity at your place of business.
- Your detailed sign-up will also help us to determine what areas of the city we aren’t reaching. Knowing where our subscribers live or work will help us to determine which blocks in Minneapolis we will need to doorknock for block leaders, crime prevention volunteers and general alert contacts. Finally, this link provides you with the opportunity to subscribe to many of the City’s other email notification lists such as snow emergency alerts and City Council notices.
We are committed to keeping you in the loop regarding current crime trends and opportunities for involvement in crime prevention. Our Crime Prevention Specialists sent hundreds of emails to our lists annually. These emails include crime alerts, meeting notices and crime maps, and requests for community impact statements.
This service is provided at no charge to you, and your contact information will be kept strictly confidential. You may unsubscribe from one or all of your lists at any time. If you have any questions whatsoever regarding crime alerts or crime and safety issues in your area, don’t hesitate to contact your Crime Prevention Specialist.
We hope you’ll sign up ASAP so we can bring our crime alert service to the next level in short order. Thanks for your continued commitment to crime prevention and partnership with the Minneapolis Police Department.
Sincerely,
Deputy Chief Rob Allen
Minneapolis Police Department
Investigations Bureau
