Minneapolis Police Department Data Practices Request

This is a formal request to the Minneapolis Police Department for access to government data under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13.

Requests for government data held by the City of Minneapolis may by completing this data request form or by calling 311. Requests are not accepted by fax or mail. If you need special accommodations to request data, please contact 311 or email [email protected].

Requests must be clear enough to enable the City to conduct a meaningful search. Please include as much descriptive information in the request as is available, such as case numbers, date ranges, addresses, names, etc. The City may ask clarifying questions about the request in order to respond to the request fully and in a timely manner.

If you are requesting data on behalf of another person, depending on your relationship to that person (the data subject), you may be required provide a letter or release form signed by the data subject, authorizing the release of their private data to you.  At this time, there is no way to include attachments with the following on-line data request.  The requestor will be contacted if an authorization form is needed.

  • I understand that the City is under no obligation to create a document to satisfy my request if no such data exists.
  • Inspection of data is free. However, the City may charge for physical or electronic copies of data provided to a requestor.
  • The City may redact or withhold not public information from the requestor. In such instances, the statutory basis for such actions will be provided.

State statute 471.701; Notice of Salary Compliance, requires that the City post for not less than 90 days
the job title of the three highest paid employees along with their base salary. For 2018 these were:
1. City Attorney, $186,490
2. Assistant City Coordinator Convention Center, $183,600
3. Director Public Works, $181,191
