Minneapolis Police Department Records Information Unit
The Records Information Unit maintains records for accidents, incidents and local arrests documented by the Minneapolis Police Department.
We receive and process all requests for data for the Minneapolis Police Department in accordance with department policy and Minnesota Data Practices law under Minnesota State Statute 13.82.

- There is a fee for all printed materials/reports.
- Use the Data Practices Request Form when requesting photos, video, or large volume data requests.

Records Information Unit Staff will advise of charges for large volumes of data or a number of requests, requiring extensive time and research, before processing these requests.
- All requests are handled on a first come, first serve basis.
- It is not necessary to identify yourself when making a request for public data.
- All requests for information are processed in accordance with the State of Minnesota data privacy laws and MPD policy.
