Availability of Salvaged Paving Bricks/StonesPaving bricks and stones were commonly used to build streets during the late 1800s and early 1900s. From time to time, they are removed during street reconstruction projects. Because the public has shown an interest in making use of old paving bricks and stones, Public Works has established a procedure to make them available for purchase. In 2006, Public Works removed and salvaged a quantity of granite stones when we reconstructed various Minneapolis streets. They are available on a first come/first served basis to the general public and to City NRP neighborhood organizations, departments and agencies.
