Producing clean, safe drinking water for customers
The City of Minneapolis puts tap water through hundreds of tests a day. This is to ensure that the water that reaches your faucet is clean and safe.
- The quality of water is assured and controlled through the various stages of treatment by plant and laboratory tests.
- An average of 500 chemical, physical, and bacteriological examinations are done each and every day. That’s 182,500 tests a year!
- Our computer system allows continuous monitoring of our water quality and distribution, so our staff can respond quickly if a situation arises.
Results of these tests are made public every year in our annual water quality reports. To read these reports, go to our main water works page.
