Recycling CreditA recycling credit of $7 per dwelling will be deducted from the monthly garbage fee of all residents who actively participate in the Minneapolis Recycling Program. Recycling Saves You MoneyParticipating in the recycling program is not required; but just a small amount of time each week will save you $84 a year ($7/month). All we ask for is your time to process, sort, separate and bag your items, per our recycling requirements. Recycling Helps Fund ServicesThe sale of scrap metal and recyclables helps fund Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling. The income from recycling keeps monthly fees lower and provides income for special services like large item pickup, South Transfer Station, and Clean City Programs. Do we take credit away?Yes, if you are not recycling, or if you don't follow recycling procedures, the credit can be taken away along with your bins. How can I get my credit back?If we have taken away your recycling credit and your bins, we will work with you to gain them back. You may call to have your bins returned and you’re credit reinstated three months after they were removed. If you choose not to wait three months, you must pay $21.00 per dwelling unit to have your credit and bins reinstated early. BillingYour cost or credit for recycling is listed on your Water (Utility) Bill. Minneapolis Utility Billing also has a web site with detailed billing information. If you have questions or would like to register your building for the recycling credit, call Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling at (612) 673-2917. |
