Minneapolis Greenhouse Gas Emissions Tracking
Minneapolis is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and has adopted targets to reduce community-wide emissions 15 percent by 2015, 30 percent by 2025, and 80 percent by 2050 using 2006 as a baseline.
Citywide Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory
Natural gas emissions are now greater than electricity emissions for the first time since tracking began in 2006. They were the largest contributor of 2018 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the City and use is trending up over time.

The City also tracks GHG emissions related to its municipal operations:
Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Protocol
Establishing a baseline and protocol in order to measure results is an important part of this initiative. The methodology for estimating the community's greenhouse gas emissions was updated for the 2015 inventory. An updated protocol will be posted soon.
