African American Community
The African American community is the largest cultural community in Minneapolis, comprising over 18 percent of Minneapolis’ population. The African American community has rich history of contributions and concerns in both south and north Minneapolis.
- Trust building between public safety departments and community: NCR organizes ongoing public safety forums, career fairs and engagement events with the intent of building better relationships between African American residents and public safety representatives.
- Leadership development with young professionals: The goal of this initiative is to unite African American and African young professionals to work towards resolving shared cross cultural community challenges.
Connecting with the community
Faith groups, non-profits, grassroots and culturally specific organizations are ideal groups to partner with when engaging the African American community.
