2020
Neighborhoods 2020
Residents participated in the City's Neighborhoods 2020 community engagement process.
The City used resident input to:
- Redefine the roles and expectations of neighborhood organizations.
- Develop funding, program and policy guidelines that align with the City's Strategic Racial Equity Plan.
The City Council approved the Neighborhood 2020 Program Guidelines.
2014
Community Participation Program
The City introduced the Community Participation Program (CPP) for neighborhood organizations.
It funded the work of neighborhood organizations.
Funds were used to:
- Identify and act on neighborhood priorities.
- Influence City decisions on plans, policies, procedures, programs and services.
- Increase involvement in civic and community life.
The City allocated at least $3,000,000 per year for this work.
2020 was the last year for CPP funding.
1989
Neighborhood Revitalization Program
The City launched the Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP). It called for neighborhood-based:
- Priority setting
- Planning
- Implementation
It established a process that includes:
- Neighborhood organizations creating Neighborhood Action Plans (NAPs).
- The City providing NAP implementation funding to each neighborhood.
- Neighborhood organizations collaborating with:
- The City of Minneapolis
- Hennepin County
- Minneapolis Parks
- Minneapolis Public Schools
