About metered spaces

Meter rates, time limits and other restrictions vary across the city. They might even be different from one side of the street to the other. 

Every meter has this information posted at the space. Make sure to read it.

Snow emergency and street sweep parking

Snow emergencies and street sweeping override the use of parking meters. Stay informed.

Event rates

Event rates may apply during events at:

  • U.S. Bank Stadium
  • Huntington Bank Stadium
  • Target Field
  • Minneapolis Convention Center

Disability parking

There are special rates for disability parking at parking meters.

How to park and pay

Park at a numbered meter spot and find the nearest pay station

Note enforcement hours and restrictions, as well as the space number. To find the nearest pay station use the mobile app.

Step 1 - Note the space number

Activate the pay station by pressing the start button under the touch screen. Then enter the space number.

Step 2 - Choose the amount of time you want to park

Be sure to review the rate and restrictions of the parking space. 

Step 3 - Make your payment

Select to pay with coins (do not use dimes, nickels, or pennies), or insert or tap your card. Follow the prompts on the screen to complete your payment. 

Step 4 - Choose your receipt option

Enter your phone number to get a receipt by text. If you need an emailed or printed copy of your receipt, be sure you have the space number, time and date of the transaction, and the last 4 digits of the card you used. Then submit your request using one of the following methods:

Problem with a meter

If you have trouble with a pay station, you can pay for your meter at any other nearby pay station using the space number. 

If a meter is defective or you have a question about meters:

Free holiday parking

Metered spaces are free on City holidays

Note that we do not operate all metered spaces in the city. 

Always read the information posted at the meter. Some private entities operate their own meters and may have a different holiday schedule.
