Green industry businesses can become training partners.

Learn more about on-the-job training

Students are required to do on-the-job training if they want to earn industry certifications and credentials.

How it works

Training partners

Training partners are green energy businesses who:

  • Provide a place for students to complete their required on-the-job training
  • Do business in the communities where students live
  • Are committed to having employees who reflect the communities they serve

You get to:

  • Meet and train future employees
  • Receive wage reimbursement from the city for the first 160 hours each student works for you
  • Support youth and families in your community

You must:

  • Assign an employee to guide and mentor each student
  • Give each student at least 80 hours of relevant, hands-on project experience
  • Give each student at least 40 hours of project design or related experience
  • Submit a post-internship evaluation (we provide the evaluation form)

Students

Students are young adults (age 17+) who:

  • Live in your community
  • Are exploring green careers
  • Are enrolled in an industry certification or credentialing program

While working for you, they will:

  • Complete an industry certification or credentialing program
  • Get on-the-job experience
  • Meet and network with clean energy professionals
  • Earn money

Internship timelines vary.
