54th St. E. and 57th St. E. resurfacing
The City will remove part of the asphalt on these two streets and overlay each street with a new layer of asphalt. The project limits are 54th St. E. from 28th Ave. S. to Hiawatha Ave. and 57th St. E.

We resurfaced 54th St. E. from 28th Ave. S. to Hiawatha Ave. and 57th St. E. from 35W to 28th Ave. S.
In this ongoing street maintenance program, we replace the top layer of asphalt pavement to extend the life of a street between larger reconstructions. The new pavement should last about 10 years.
Traffic impacts
There were short-term closures to through traffic and detours during construction.
- 54th St. was closed and detoured June 3-10, 2021. Access the VA Hospital from the east was detoured to Minnehaha Ave.
- 57th St. was closed and detoured June 8-15, 2021.
